Children and scoliosis
Every day, children around the world are diagnosed with spinal deformities about which they have little understanding. It is often felt that children are too young to understand medical terms.
Our aim is to help kids learn about their spinal conditions in an exciting, non–threatening way, blending fun with fact. We explain scoliosis for kids using a language and style they can understand.
The special treatment programme for children with scoliosis is designed to help kids improve their spinal conditions as much as possible in the friendly atmosphere.
Scoliosis expert Joanna Slup is also a graduated midwife. She gets on well with both small children and young adults.
Kids love her!
Adolescent patients with scoliosis may experience psychological difficulties, especially while undergoing treatment for scoliosis.
Thanks to our unique way of treatment coping with scoliosis is not stressful for children and their parents. Moreover, after treatment children and teenagers are strongly motivated to continue exercises at home. They are prepare (even small kids) to work at home with only a small parent supervision. We noticed that young adults have a higher level of self-esteem after treatment.
This program is not only for children, but also for their parents. We help parents to better understand their children conditions.
Never is too late for scoliosis treatment, but if we start treatment earlier, correction will be easier.
RISK FACTORS FOR SCOLIOSIS
1/SEX - mild curves affect boys and girls equally, but girls are 10 times more likely
to have curves that can progress.
2/AGE - the younger the child when scoliosis appears, the bigger chance of progression.
3/GENETIC FACTORS - it is thought that scoliosis runs in families.
Do you suffer from:
pins and needles?
Do you exercise spine?
Early detection may lead to early treatment, which may stop the curve from getting worse.
